This term I chose to help Year2 with stop motion animation, after trying my hand at filming puppets for stop motion animation I was even more determined to try my hand at stop motion animation, but there was a lot I didn’t know about puppetry so the process of helping out this time taught me an exceptional amount. At first I finished the flat three-view drawings of the two characters.

and then I started to make the puppet of one of the characters, in the process of making the puppet I found out that rolling the limbs in glue for a circle and then stuffing them into the holes can fix the limbs more firmly, not only that, I was more familiar and accurate with the making of the hands and the feet which I wasn’t good at, and I started to do the wool felting after the making of the basic skeleton, I had played with wool felting before, but with the wool felting I had learnt a lot of things, so this helping process taught me something special. I had played with wool felt before, but when I made the face and hair of the puppet with wool felt, I realised that it was not easy either, the hair needed to be done in layers, and the facial features needed to be made with patience bit by bit, it was all about trying out different styles of puppets for me, and this had a very important role to play in choosing my own style of stop motion animation afterwards. However, the knitting and sewing of clothes is a part that I am missing. In the process of helping Year2, I found out that there are a lot of things that I need to learn, all of which are important parts of stop-motion animation. I gained a lot from this helping process, and it also made me think about whether or not to use the material of wool felted wool for my graduation design, and firmly decided that I have to use the group cooperation method for my graduation design, because the production of stop-motion animation is very large in volume and shooting time. volume and the length of the filming is very large, I think this is a very meaningful attempt.
